Assignment: 
  • Continue team work on game board.
  • Boxes that will be used for the board are on the book shelves by the door.  They are the white boxes that you would use to wrap a shirt in.  (fyi, they're called shirt boxes.)  
  • Measure the boxes to get the measurement of your game board.  Remember that the board has to fold and fit in the box, so it should not be exactly the same size as the box. 
  • A tutorial on setting up the instruction (front/back) can be found with the rest of the board game resources (Click Gaming Graphics, then board games.)
Photoshop 1:
Assignment: 
  •  Finish the Vintage Circus Poster shown in this tutorial.  You have two days to complete the tutorial. 
  • Extra Practice:  Give this guy a face.  First, copy him and paste him into Photoshop.  Then, do a search for "eye" and use it to replace both eyes on the face.  Do the same for nose and ears.  Add anything else you like.

  • If you get stuck on something, ask a Photoshop 2 or 3 person for help.  They are required to help students!

  • Continue team work on game board.
  • Did you know you can download fonts?  If you have a team members who are waiting for their job to start,  have them look up four or five different fonts you might be able to use in the title of your game.  Choosing several different varieties will allow the team to decide on the one that best fits the theme.
  • To put the fonts in Illustrator, double click the zip file, then double click the font and click "install."  When you look at the font list in Illustrator you should see it there.

What you'll learn:  accessing and using different types of resources from the web
What you'll do:

 Create the Vintage Circus Poster shown in this tutorial. 
Look at the "Resources" tab for brushes and graphics you can use.
You have two days to complete the tutorial.

    Next, look over these three tutorials on transforming someone into a zombie and choose one to complete.  You will need to use either a photo of yourself or someone willing to be zombi-fied.  You need to take the photo with a camera, so you can either use my camera or an iPhone 4 or better.  
    Best zombies will be printed and hung around school for Trick-or-Treat on Unicorn Street!

    Anti-Bullying Contest Winners

    Assignment: Gaming Graphics Grid
    Vocabulary:  Outsource, Compressed folder
    • Mrs. Trollinger's Gaming class has outsourced their gaming graphics to us.  What does that mean?  It means we've been hired to create the sprites for their games!  
    • During this assignment you will learn how to compress a folder and share it over the Internet.
    1. Create assigned sprites and put them on a grid as you have before, with names.  You will have three empty squares at the bottom of your grid.
    2. Upload the grid to your blog as "Outsourced Sprites"
    3. Next, export each individual sprites to a folder labeled: yourlastname_sprites.
    4. Right click on that folder and "compress."
    5. Put that compressed folder in your Google Drive (or Dropbox folder. )
    6. Figure out how to share that folder over the internet (you should be able to get a link.)
    7. Create a link on your blog under your grid.  Your link should read like this:
      "If you would like to use my images, download the compressed file here."
    8. Link the entire sentence to your compressed folder. (Look for the word "Link" right next to the button you would use to upload an image.)
    9. Mrs. Trollinger's class will receive the links to your pages and will be able to choose whose images they want to use.
    10. Images you need to create:  Pirate side view,  gold coins (pile), pirate chest, spitting llama (side view), marshmallow.

    • Be thinking of what you want to create that will have a Halloween theme.  Finished (and approved) images will be used to create a slideshow Halloween greeting for the video announcements.

    • Graphic Design:  
      Check out these images (Gradient Mask Projects) from past students, then read about your next project below.

      Gradient Mask Project:
    • What are you passionate about?  Band?  Music?  World peace?  A certain someone?  Find or take a minimum of 5 pictures that represent that passion and create a collage using the gradient mask technique you learned in the Gradient Mask tutorial.  
    • Make sure you use "large" images.
    • Only use one subject.
    • Start with a new file, 300 for the resolution, 8" x 8" for the size.
    • Add text to create a title for your collage.  Make sure to use capitalization in your title.
    • You will have 2 full class periods to work on this.
    • Best projects will be printed, so make sure you save your Photoshop file.
    Photoshop 2:
