10/27/14

All classes:

Hello!

If you haven't done so already, provide a link to each of the images you used in your PTA contest image. This is your way of tell me that you definitely want to enter the contest.  If there are no image links, I will assume you don't want to enter the contest.

Make sure you write at least three sentences explaining how you created your image!

Make sure to pick up an entry form from the sub.  All entry forms are due Friday.  Pay careful attention to what you write under the "artist statement."  This is almost as important as your image itself!

Photoshop 1:
Assignment:
  • Watch this video on using Kuler.com and create the color scheme along with the teacher BUT DO NOT reduce the number of colors to 3 when he does.  You want to keep 5 colors.
  • His version of Kuler is a little older than yours, but you should still be able to follow along.
  • Note:  if the video link does not work and you can get to youtube, here is the original link.
Create a color scheme for each of the rules available:
  • Analogous, Monochromatic, Triad, Complementary, Compound, Shades

  • Also create a color scheme from a photo
  • Upload a screenshot of each of your color schemes to your blog along with the name for it
Dreamcatcher
  • Dreamcatchers
  • Download the Dreamcatchers zip file.
  • Double click the file and a folder of images will open.
  • Choose one of the Dreamcatchers.
  • Use one of your color schemes to color the dreamcatcher
  • The easiest way to do this is to drag the screenshot into Photoshop and use the eyedropper to choose your color.
  • Upload your finished image along with a description about what you did or what you learned.
  • Make sure to include the name of the rule you used for your color scheme.
Photoshop 2:
Assignment:
  •  If you are not already working on a project, begin working on the following photo repair project.
  • Lee Baby Photos (they can also be found under "Photoshop Files" link on the Videos and Files page.)
  •  These images were damaged in a flood and need repair.  This assignment is a "client" project, which is what Photoshop 3 students do.  Your client is Mrs. Lee, so if you have any questions about the images, she is the one to ask.
  • Make sure that you do not "downsize" the images (make them a smaller file size) because they will be printed out.
  • Upload a screenshot of your finished image along with a description about what you did or what you learned.
Print and Image:
Assignment:
  • Continue working on your game board.
  • If you do not have anything to do, choose an image from the Alphabet Book project.  The link is on this page.  Look at the list on the door to make sure you do not use an image someone else has already completed.
  • Upload your finished image along with a description about what you did or what you learned.

Poster competition results
Judge's comments:
Be careful of how much you include in your poster.  Sometimes less is best.  Don't overcrowd with too many images.
If you have a busy background, your text should be plain and bold so it stands out.
Make sure your images are either your own or have been taken from Public Domain, (Creative Commons)

Mrs. Miller's comments:
Make sure you follow directions to a T.  Many of you did not post where you got your images from.  Some of you didn't even explain how you created the image.  "Here is my poster" is not enough!

See the top 10 posters from my classes here.

If your poster is in the top 10, please provide me with a Photoshop PDF file.

    Assignment:

    • Take a look at the images in this folder and get a preview of what you will be doing.
    • Get the photos you need from the internet--remember to use the "large" option under image size.
    • Extra credit:  instead of using a photo of a person from the internet, use a photo of yourself.  (And, it would actually be easier because you can pose the way you need to pose and put yourself on a dark background so you're easier to copy and paste.)
    • Make the final image as believable as possible--fade the edges with a "soft" brush eraser, and look at whether a drop shadow would help as well.

    • Upload your finished image along with a description about what you did or what you learned.
