    Watch and follow along with the video called:  Photoshop Interface
    (Forget how to get to the video page?  Click on the Resources tab above, then click on the link to the Graphics Design and Photoshop/Web Files)
    After, complete this video as well:
  • Custom Workspace
  •  When you are finished, take a screenshot (Command Shift 4) showing the name of your new workspace.  The image will show up on your desktop.
  • Upload your finished image to your blog along with a description about what you did or what you learned.

    Turn in your Student Information Sheet and your Parent Letter.  Deadline 8:00 PM tonight!

    All Advanced students:

    Begin searching for projects/assignments/tutorials to work on.  You may work on learning the 3D aspect of Illustrator or Photoshop (depending on your class) if you like.  As soon as you find a project, please let me know what it is and a projected deadline.

    All Practicum students:  

    Go to Art-Heroes.org and sign up.
    • Use my name (Linda Miller) as the person who connected you with Art Heroes.
    • Explore the job listing areas.
    • Do you know a non-profit who might benefit from this site?  Let them know about it!  You could do the work and get credit for it for class and service hours if you need them!

    First Day Back!

    Welcome back to school!

    It is going to be a great year!  I have some cool stuff planned and we have lots of students returning for Graphic Design 2 (aka Photoshop 2) and Practicum in Graphic Design.  We also have five students returning for their second year in Print and Image.  So welcome to all my returning students and new students as well.

    We are going to start the year off getting organized with the iPad and computer, and then we're going to jump right in to getting to know (or being reacquainted with) the software.

    • Go to studenttutes.blogspot.com and choose one tutorial that has not been commented on three times.
    • Follow the tutorial to the best of your ability
    • At the bottom of that tutorial, in the comment section, critique the tutorial.  What was good about it?  What needed work?
    • On your own blog, upload your finished image and copy and paste your critique.
    Photoshop 2:

    Photoshop 2:

    • If you are working on the certification exam, see Photoshop 1 assignment.
    • If you are not working on the certification exam, make sure all of your images are on your Pinterest board.  This will count 10 points toward your final exam grade.
    • Make sure you have a Pinterest link at the top of your blog--not a blog post, but a "gadget."  If you don't have this link at the top of your page, I will not look for it, and I will count off 10 points.
    • To find gadgets, 
      • click on Design (look at the top right of your screen), 
      • click on "Layout" 
      • and then click on "add a gadget."  
      • Find the gadget called "link list."  
      • Paste the link to your Pinterest board.
    • Your final exam:  Create a tutorial using text and screenshots.  
    • You can create a tutorial on any of the skills I cover in Photoshop 1 (since the tutorials I have are using CS5, I can use your tutorial as an update.)  
    • Use your own images.  
    • If you want to create a video of your screen like I do, you can use Quicktime.
    • Seniors:  Your tutorial should have a minimum of 10 screenshots and steps.  You have from now until exam day to complete and turn in your tutorial.
    • Juniors:  You will create two tutorials.  You have from now until exam day to complete and turn in your tutorials.
    Note:   Tutorial subjects are on a first come, first serve basis.  I don't want a bunch of tutorials over how to crop, lol.

    Gaming Graphics:                                                                            
    Assignment: Box Art and Blog Post
    • Final Project:  Video game marketing.
    • Recreate the "box art" for a video game of your choice.  Here is a page with examples.
    • Create the box art in Illustrator.  It must fit a dvd case when you print it out and trim it.
    • It must have all the elements of a real cover.
    • Create a blog page to advertise your game.
    • It must contain all the elements of a real blog that would typically advertise a game release.

    • Download the Photoshop pages about Domain 1 for the test.
      • Read through the information
      • Make sure you look at vocabulary words
    • Go to Certiport.com and take the Photoshop CS6 practice exam.
      • In the dropdown for "Program," click "Adobe Certified Associate.
      • Make sure you choose "Photoshop CS6 Practice" when you choose your exam.
      • Make a note of anything you don't know.  The questions on the real exam will not be the same, but they will be the same subject matter.
    • Tell Mrs. Miller your grade.  Do not be concerned about your grade at all!  You are taking the exam today so that you can make sure you learn the items you don't know.
